Oral history interview with L. John Van Til, 1990.

Van Til discusses his work for J. Howard Pew writing about the Westminster Assembly, the Protestant Reformation, and the American Revolution; writing speeches for Pew; and working with the Presbyterian Layman. He also recalls living with his family on Pew's estate in Ardmore, Pennsylvania during this period, 1968-1971. He also discusses how he came to be on the faculty of Grove City College.

He took his bachelor's degree from Calvin College and his doctoral degree in the philosophy of history from Michigan State University. A private trust company and successor to the Pew Memorial Foundation, the Glenmede Trust Company was chartered in 1956 to administer three Pew family trusts. By the mid-1980s Glenmede's dual identity, as both for-profit financial management company and not-for-profit philanthropic institution, proved unwieldy.
